Bio
Antoine Romanetti specialises in the areas of international arbitration, commercial and civil litigation, criminal law, bankruptcy law, construction law and shipping.
Before joining Rappard Romanetti Iafaev & Avocats (2019), he worked for Romanetti Avocats (2010-2019), in the arbitration department of LALIVE in Geneva and Qatar (2006-2010), and Wilmer Hale LLP in London (2004-2006). He has also worked as an associate for Sonier & Associés (2001-2003) and Norton Rose (1999-2001) in Paris.
Antoine holds a LLM in International Arbitration Law from Queen Mary University in London (2004), and a master degree (DESS-DJCE) in Business Law and Tax from the University of Aix-Marseille (Marseille III) (1995). He also holds a Master’s degree in Private Law and the Diploma from the Institute of Business Law (IDA) from the University Panthéon-Assas (Paris II) (1993 and 1994).
He is a member of several professional associations, including the Geneva Bar Association (ODA), the Swiss Association of Arbitration (ASA), the French Committee of Arbitration (CFA), the Forum of Construction Law (ODA group), and the Propeller Club.
Antoine Romanetti is fluent in French (mother tongue), English and Spanish, and he has a good knowledge of Italian.
Recent experience
- Representing an individual from a Northern European country in complex construction litigation before the Swiss State courts;
- Acting as sole arbitrator under the Swiss Arbitration Rules in a Geneva-based arbitration concerning a contract for the international sale of goods;
- Representing a French company in an international arbitration under the Swiss Arbitration Rules concerning a loan agreement in the pharmaceutical industry;
- Representing an individual from a Northern European country in a commercial mediation under the Swiss Mediation Rules in a complex construction case;
- Acting for a European trading company in pre-arbitration proceeding concerning a contract for international sales of goods and a charter party;
- Co-counsel of two multinational companies in an ICC international arbitration concerning a joint venture agreement;
- Acting for rwo passengers of a shipwrecked vessel in a civil liability action before the Swiss State courts;
- Acting for an individual from North America in enforcement proceeding of an ICC foreign arbitral award rendered in Canada, and recovery of assets in Switzerland.
